Panel Discussion with Lance Armstrong, Dr. Wafaa El-Sadr, Dr. Paul Farmer, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and Dr. Lawrence Shulman
In the World Leaders Forum panel discussion titled, Delivering Hope: Preventing and Treating Noncommunicable Diseases in Developing Countries, Lance Armstrong, Dr. Wafaa El-Sadr, Dr. Paul Farmer, Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Dr. Lawrence Shulman will have a critical conversation about the potential strategies, practical interventions and promise of saving lives. Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) - cancer, diabetes, heart and lung disease - are the leading cause of death globally. NCDs end the lives of the youngest, poorest and more marginalized populations - and they are a significant barrier to achieving the Millennium Development Goals. But they can also be prevented and treated with simple, practical cost-effective solutions. The panelists will discuss the growing challenge of chronic disease in developing countries and what can be done about it now.
